See water from space. Create solutions on the ground.

Floods, droughts and declining water quality are hitting communities harder every year. Responding well needs people who can measure water from orbit, model it at basin-scale and turn that evidence into decisions people accept.

This is why the MSc WAVES (Water Vulnerability Engineering in Spatial Sciences) was created—a new Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s program co-funded by the European Union. The two-year program takes place across three European universities: the University of Twente (Netherlands), the University of Padua (Italy), and the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). It combines Earth observation, hydrological modeling, machine learning, nature-based engineering, and water governance into a single, integrated curriculum.

Three tracks are available
, each spread over two countries:
- Spatial Water Sciences: Padova (Italy), then Enschede (the Netherlands)
- Water Vulnerability Engineering: Ljubljana (Slovenia), then Padova (Italy)
- Spatial Water Governance and Policy: Ljubljana (Slovenia), then Enschede (the Netherlands)

Graduates receive a double MSc degree (120 ECTS). There is no application fee. Applications open on 13 October 2026.

A live information session will be held on November 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM CET. Colleagues from all three partner universities will present the program and answer your questions. The registration link will soon be available at https://msc-waves.eu/
